Seminar: More than 500 physicians, trainers, and coaches attended!
On December 6th, 2003 & November 17, 2006 more than 500 & 700 physicians, trainers and coaches respectively attended the Concussion Management in Hockey, Diagnosis, Treatment and Return to Play seminar at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Accredited by The College of Family Physicians of Canada highlights included on-ice and dressing room evaluations, post concussion pressures, provocative exercise testing, return to play guidelines and the medical legal issues in concussion management.
Thanks to all participants it was deemed a huge success. Feedback has been extremely positive as the shared information touched all bases and hopefully spread a better understanding of what a concussion is, how to treat it and when to return to play.

No Head Check Rule Instituted in Amateur Hockey
Read the article by Dr. Pashby:
In 2002 the Canadian Hockey Association introduced a No Head Check Rule in Hockey, following a similar rule in USA Hockey and in the International Ice Hockey Federation. Thus in amateur hockey, there is no such thing as a "clean" head check (such as a shoulder to the head). Hopefully, the NHL will follow suit.
In the News...
The Globe and Mail reported on February 1, 2003, that "The East Coast Hockey League has become the first professional hockey league in North America to require players to wear visors."
